The term “horizon” links human and world in as much as it belongs to neither, but only to their dynamic interrelation. Ultimately the horizon provides a protective context within which we make ourselves at home in the world.
— C. A. Van Peursen

Artwork by Lana Bernberg: 28”x40” and 16”x24” chromogenic prints (traditional c-prints) made from negatives.

With an eye towards the sublime, Lana’s work as a photographer is with the effects of, and perception of light. Through all of her work is her interest in the horizon line; ever elusive, it represents a limit and the desire to exceed limits. A believer in the deep connection we have to the unseen and the unknown, Lana’s study and practice of the mystical informs her practice as an artist.

Her work has been collected into private and corporate collections: including several works in the Pfizer Collection, the Biblioteque Nationale Archives, and the Sundance Institute. Her short films have been featured at the Sundance Film Festival •  Calgary Film Festival: Best Film • Chicago International Film Festival: Prize • Bourges International Festival: Prize.
